I have a small firearms dealership. I elected to place an order with Excel Industries after seeing one of their advertisements and looking at their website under excelarms.com.
I ordered and paid cash in advance for 5 Accelerator 17HMR pistols on August 15, 2007. I received the pistols on October 16, 2007, 2 months and 1 day after paying for them. I was told there would be a 2 - 3 week lead time between order date and ship date.
I sold four of the five pistols by January, 2008. I had complaints from all my customers about the operation of the pistols. The complaints ranged from jams to the pistols ejecting the expended casings from the wrong side of the action. I also had one customer who experienced a casing explsion (a very dangerous occurance) because the slide action did not close completely. I have a photo of the exploded casing.
Two of my customers elected to trade their weapons to another dealer for different guns. I then shot the remaining pistol in my stock and experienced the same jamming difficulties as described by my customers. I sent the two pistols from my customers and my stock pistol back to Excel Industries for repairs on February 12, 2008. I followed the return instructions from a Mr. Larry Grossman to the letter.
As of this date, March 31, 2008, I have not received the pistols back from the manufacturer. I have placed a total of nine phone calls over the last seven weeks to Mr. Grossman and have had to leave voice mail messages repeatedly. He does not return customer calls.
My customers are calling me almost daily to inquire about the status of their pistols. They now want their money refunded, which I will do to maintain good customer relations.
In fairness to Excel Industries their Accelerator Pistols appeared to be of good manufacture but do not operate off the shelf. Regardless of the outcome of this incident I will never purchase and resell another of their products. I will never endorse or recommend their products for use.
