In January I decided to take a Phlebotomy certification course so that I could work at a lab while waiting to get into nursing school. A good friend of mine told me that her father in law found a place online called Critical Concepts. I called the company twice to make sure that it was a legitimate course, and explained to the employees that I had no prior medical experience, but wanted to take a class that would teach me phlebotomy so that i could work in a lab. The person on the phone told me that I would be fine because I had taken an Anatomy and Physiology class in the past and that the course would certify me to be a phlebotomist. Since I had spoken to two different people from the company, I decided to register for the course. On the day of the class the instructor was 20 minutes late, and then explains later on that we need to obtain 20 live sticks in order for the certification to be complete. I was told that I would be able to call a local blood bank or lab and volunteer. The next day I did just that, but was told by everyone that I would be a liability, and that the school I got my certificate through was supposed to provide me with my 20 stick or a way to obtain them. I then called Critical Concepts and spoke with a man named Jesus (Spanish pronunciation ). I explained my situation, and he simply replied with " It's not our responsibility to find your sticks ". He then goes on to tell me that its really just a class where nurses and Phlebotomist earn extra credit hours! I asked to speak to a supervisor and Jesus told me that I was already speaking to him I actually started to cry telling him that I was a student and saved up money so that I could better my education and that they had scammed me and took my money. He later agreed to give me my money back. this was on February the 11th. since then I have called and left several message, only to be put on hold and given the run around. Each time I ask to speak to Jesus or a supervisor, the person on the phone asks why and tells me they're not in and that no one else above them is in at the time. I find this ridiculous. I put my trust in this Critical Concepts and took Jesus's word when he promised me my money back. It has been 2 months and I have yet to speak to Jesus since. After calling for my final time today and being told the same excuses, I have now decided to contact a local news station to expose them. It isn't fair for a company to lie to people and then ignore them once they have their money. Please do not take any classes with Critical Concepts!! They are a terrible company and have poor managing skills; You'll only waste your time and money. By the way, I still haven't received my certificate in the mail.
