Deceptive in Recommendations - No full disclosure of options
|
I had an A/C not cooling well. Service requested and they came within 24 hours. The technician spent about 45 minutes "testing" the A/C. Basically said the unit is leaking, can't find the leak, the equipment is old and out of warranty (six years old unit) and the fixable parts are not manufactured anymore. Then the big discussion about the EPA and Freon scare. Bottom line $5,000.00 to replace the unit. The technician had to keep leaving the home to "make a call". It felt like I was at a car dealership. I called for a second opinion from a family owned company and they arrived promptly within 14 hours, spent about 30 minutes, found the leak and made recommendations to repair. Nothing wrong with the unit! Replacement of Freon when the time comes to meet EPA standards. Grand total: $338.00. You tell me, who is the scam artist! Deception at it's best and taking advantage of individuals in Florida when the weather gets hot.
