I have an appliance service contract with ECM. The premiums are expensive, and the policy doesn't cover everything. I called them because the ice maker in my refrigerator was making very little ice. A service tech came out and couldn't figure out what the problem was so he called his boss. The boss said it must be a bad circuit board, so they ordered a new board. When they came out with the board, it was the wrong board. They came out twice with the wrong board. Then they called me and said it needed a different board which costs $469, and the service policy only covers $100. So I had to pay them $369 additional. I asked the person in the parts department if I would get a refund if the board was not the problem, and she said, of course. So, they came out again and replaced the board, and problem was still not solved. So, the technician came out again and said maybe you have a clogged filter. So, we changed the filter. Problem solved. I called ECM and said I would like my $369 refunded and they said no because the board was bad in addition to the filter being clogged. I said, please send me my old board back so I could have it tested. They said, sorry, we threw it away. Based upon several other negative reviews, it sounds like I am not the only one who is being scammed by them.
